Hugh said nothing, just stared at her, the chiseled planes of his face, sharp and intense.
The heat smoldering within his almost black gaze caused her breath to hitch and a tendril of want to jolt her.
She fumbled and dropped a glove.
Bending to retrieve it the same time he did, she froze. Mere inches separated their mouths.
Giselle couldn’t move, her entire being mindful of one thing. If she leaned forward . . . not even a hairsbreadth, her lips would touch Hugh’s.
Oh, to taste his sculpted mouth.
Last week’s snippets were simply amazing. I was dying to know more about each story.

Their eyes met across the crowded ballroom. Rose’s stomach tumbled and a wave of heat swept her as she took in his rugged handsomeness. He had changed since she saw him last, three years ago. She had always thought Alex’s beautiful sea-green eyes were his best feature, but the sight of them had never caused goose bumps to march up her spine as they did now. Previous to this, it had always been her opinion that girls who sighed over handsome men were silly widgets, but now she had an unforeseen empathy for them.

Fen poured warm water into the basin and reached for Andromeda’s slippers. “I’ll wash your feet.”
She slid them under her skirts. “You mustn’t. It wouldn’t be proper.”
“My dear girl, nothing about this situation is proper.”
True, they were alone in his bedchamber. I’m completely ruined, she thought. Word of her disappearance must be all over London.
“You’re bleeding,” he said. “You’ll ruin my carpet if I let you go on this way.”
She gave a sputter of a laugh, and he took her left foot before she could stop him. Their eyes met briefly—and both looked away. Did he remember their love of long ago, the summer when she was seventeen years old? Stolen kisses, whispered vows. They’d sneaked off to a meadow and lain in the long grass in each other’s arms, and when he kissed her bare feet, desire coursed all the way to her core.

She closed her eyes and tucked her head in the warmth of his neck, his masculine scent and strength a double-edged sword. Her wildly beating heart tripped to a different beat as she breathed him in, its cadence switching from fear to a steady beat to match his. His now escalating heartbeat, she realized, ratcheting even faster when she wiggled again to get even closer to the delicious heat of his body. She reminded herself there was no way she was going to act on this unwanted attraction.

They raced toward the clan’s camp, Declan eager to find her. Find the love of his life.
A steady rain began.A slight tug on the reins and his steed slowed to a walk. He lifted his head toward the sky and allowed the water to wash over him. Aye, he felt alive.
“Declan.”
He opened his eyes and couldn’t believe the sight before him.
There she stood—his love—his angel.
Within a moment he’d slipped from Kindred’s back and was running toward her. All he could think was to have her in his arms.
“Martine,” he said as he kissed all over her face.
She laughed and pulled him closer. He lifted her and swirled her around. Happiness filled him so much he almost didn’t recognize the emotion. Aye, he’d been content in the past, but never filled with. . joy.
