The dining room was quiet this morning. Ethan had had a restless evening after his talk with Arabella. The constant turning in his bed could not get his mind off the chit. Numerous times he considered walking to her room just to watch her sleep, and then arguing with himself to leave her alone.
By the time the sun’s rays snuck through his drapes, he was up, dressed and out the door for a ride. A hard ride had always helped him clear his head and ease his pain, but this morning, no amount of land covered cleared Arabella from his mind.

Abby braced her hands on her hips and laughed. “Of course you can, you silly goose. It was my fault you lost your job and your room at the boarding house. It’s the least I can do.”
“But your parents—”
“My parents are fine with it.” Grinning like the Cheshire cat, Abby admitted, “They’re hoping you’ll be a good influence on me.”

At the end of chapter 4 the hero and heroine are formally “re-acquainted” after several year’s absence.
Rogan continued to stew as she headed toward the kitchen. How utterly despicable. At first glance, she’d been awestruck by Ian’s presence. Once he opened his mouth and had the audacity to issue orders, anger swept through her. The anger didn’t stem as she filled two copper basins with unheated water and called for one of the stable hands to haul them to the guest chambers.

I think Ian’s in for a surprise!
I love the themed posts. So this is the beginning of Chapter 5 of my work in progress – What the Scot Hears. It’s tad more than 5 lines because the sample would have ended oddly… Mrs. Chase is a chatterbox and has a habit of disappearing. MacLeod is a man of few words.
The Noisy Bird Pub & Inn…
Day 1 of Incessant Noise/Chatter…
It was unusually warm out. MacLeod wiped his brow with a length of linen and stepped off the road onto the pavement. Och, thank God for kilts… traditionally worn.
MacLeod opened the door to the Noisy Bird Pub & Inn. He’d left Mrs. Chase there while he took care of business. It was quiet inside, which was odd, considering. The low light made seeing difficult, but gave one the illusion that the air was much cooler than it was in reality. MacLeod unerringly looked to the table where he had left Mrs. Chase sitting with a drink and a pie.
She wasn’t there.
Is this a habit of hers? Can she no’ help herself?
