Merry Christmas! I’m so glad you found your way to my blog for the Historical Author Cookie Hop! I’m sharing one of my family’s favorite Christmas cookie recipes. Actually, they are my youngest son’s favorite. The macaroons are so easy to make, and delicious too.Â
Here’s how to enter to win the prizes.Â
Happy Holidays! It is the most festive and busiest time of year. Parties, gift giving, neighborhood cookie exchanges, and sweet treats for Santa… This group of 30 historical romance authors wants to help! So each of us is sharing a favorite cookie/dessert recipe with you. Wow your friends, family, and neighbors by creating a new holiday sweet!
And while you are hopping from recipe to recipe, collect the names of the desserts featured by each author for a chance to win a $150 gift card to the online store of your choice! Imagine how many books you could buy! Dukes, Highlanders, Pirates, and Warriors, OH MY!
Also, each of the 30 authors is giving away an individual prize! So follow these four easy steps to enter.
- Hop to each link (posted on 12/9), which will take you to a historical author’s FB page, web site, or blog. While you’re there please like, follow, or sign up for a newsletter if you wish to stay up to date on our new releases and author happenings.
- Discover a new cookie recipe on each site.
- Collect the name of the cookies from each listed author, and e-mail the total list to [email protected] when it is complete. Make sure to put Historical Romance Authors Are Sweet in the subject line. The list must be turned in by 11:59 PM ET on December 13th.
- One grand prize winner, of a $150 gift card, will be selected randomly from those who collected and turned in the name of all the treats by the deadline. The winner must respond within 24 hours to claim prize, and we will announce the winner hopefully by noon ET on December 15th. Individual winners will be selected randomly, and the prize-giving author will contact their individual winner.
Easy, delicious, and fun! Thanks so much for hopping along!
Readers start your ovens. Three … two … one … Let the cookie collecting begin! And have a fantastic holiday season!
**No purchase or sign up necessary to enter. Participation is completely voluntary. Your e-mail address will not be shared or added to any lists unless you specifically sign up for a newsletter list. Winner must be at least 18 years of age and have an e-mail address to accept books and gift card.**

Coconut Macaroons
Heat oven to 3250F
Line baking sheets with foil. Spray foil with no stick baking spray.
Ingredients:
Non-stick cooking spray
1 (14oz) can Sweetened Condensed Milk
1 large egg white, beaten
5 1/3 cups flaked coconut
1 cup chopped nuts (I like walnuts, almonds, and pecans)Â
2 tsp vanilla extract
½ tsp almond extract
Chocolate chips: white, milk, or dark chocolate.
Mix in a large bowl:
- Combine the sweetened condensed milk, coconut, nuts, and vanilla and almond extracts.
- Mix well.
- Fold in egg white
- Drop by rounded teaspoon onto prepared baking sheets. (I dampen my hands with water and squeeze the macaroons to compact them. After they are firm, I flatten them a little with my palm on the baking sheet.
Bake for 15-17 minutes or until lightly browned around the edges. They will firm a little while they cool, but be careful not to take them out too soon. Immediately upon removing from oven, transfer to a wire rack. They WILL stick to the baking sheet if allowed to cook. (I use a metal spatula sprayed with cooking spray)
Cool.
We like our macaroons dipped and drizzled in chocolate.
Melt chocolate chips in microwave. Carefully dip the bottom of the macaroon in the chocolate and then let dry on wax paper. Drizzle melted chocolate over the top.
Store, sealed tightly.
Makes about 36 macaroons.
Let me know how you liked them at [email protected]Â
