Dinner anyone? Or was it supper?
One of my favorite parts of research is learning what people of that period ate. I’ve learned a great deal about food preferences during the Regency era, not only for the British, but Scot’s, and even the Romani (some call them gypsies).
In fact, if you explore my blog pages, there are a few Regency recipes posted on the recipe page. I try to add new ones at least once a month.
So, for supper favorite delicacy during this period was cockscombs, tripe, and testicles; delicacies, you know. Probably not on my list of favorites, but then I didn’t live back then. Another interesting fact for you is that bone marrow was added to pies for “richness.”
I never needed to know that. Have I mentioned I’m a wimp when it comes to expanding my palette?
Another favorite was blood sausage, also called black pudding. I wonder if both are an acquired taste?
