Jessica Jefferson, fellow Soul Mate Publishing author is celebrating the release of her new Regency, Taming Miss Tisdale with a $50 gift card for one lucky commentor on her Goddess Fish Blog Tour.
Let’s find out a little more about Jessica, shall we?
Do you use a pen name/pseudo name? If so, why. If not, why did you decide to write under your own name?
I write under a pen name. When my book was published, I was working for a healthcare system and didn’t want to jeopardize my position. Since then, everyone’s found out and if anything – it’s given us something to talk about at strategy meetings.
What’s one thing you absolutely can’t tolerate during your writing? One thing you can’t write without?
Interruptions, yet I always have them. I can’t write without my coffee.
What’s the funniest thing anyone has ever said to you about your writing? Or the unkindest? Or the oddest?
Most of my reviews for my first book were favorable. All the review sites gave me 4-5 stars, so I was happy. Then I received a horrendous review. The reader actually questioned my level of education. With that said – she had some good points and I’ve totally learned from them. But that was truly the first time that I realized that I was a real author and if I wanted to succeed then I’d have to grow a tough skin.
What is one place you absolutely want to visit before you die?
Europe. I’ve been landlocked here in North America and I want to get out!
Why did you choose to write in this genre? Have you ever written any other genre? Do you plan on doing so in the future?
I love reading regency, so naturally that’s what I gravitated toward. I have started a new adult novel, but it’s been slow going. I know it’s good to challenge myself, but I just love the regency period so much it’s hard to get away from that.
What historical figure do you wish you could have met?
This changes every time I answer a question like this. I was just thinking how great it would be to have a sit down with Queen Victoria. She has a great story, so it would be fun to hear her side of it.
What are you most proud of about your writing?
That I did it. I think finishing a book, and then publishing a book is a tremendous accomplishment. Not everyone can do it, so the idea that I did it… and then people actually bought it? It gives me goosebumps every time I think about it.
How do you respond to negative reviews?
I take every review very seriously. Some people write them off, but I like to give each one some consideration. Is there something I can use? What can I learn from this?
What is something you are determined to do?
Travel. I am determined to travel more. I make too many excuses.
Okay, now for the quickie questions: Answer in three words or less. Ready? Go!

Miss Tamsin Tisdale believes herself to be completely unsuitable for London life. After a myriad of social mishaps, and the potential ruination of her family name, she’s shipped away to her cousin’s northern estate. Only after she comes to her senses will she be welcomed home.
Marcus Winston, the Duke of Grayson, has a lackluster reputation. The last in a dying line, he’s endured a protected life—rank with privilege, encumbered by isolation. After a brief encounter with rebellion, he learns the devastating consequences of his carelessness and willingly accepts living life from inside his gilded cage.
However, a chance meeting with the brazen Miss Tisdale gives Marc the opportunity to reinvent himself into the man he’s always dreamed of being. When his deception comes to light, and ghosts from both their pasts threaten to unravel the intimacy they’ve come to cherish, will either of them set their fears aside long enough to embrace love? Or will Miss Tisdale’s stubbornness divide them?
MY REVIEW
There’s so much to love!
I adored Jessica Jefferson’s hero and heroine. Tasmin and Marc are such unique characters. You can’t help but fall in love with them. Though some of the typical tropes move the plot along nicely, there are a few surprises to keep you flipping the pages.
Tasmin has no need for a man’s attention, which is why she finds herself banished to her cousin’s after dumping her soup into a lord’s lap. His Grace, Marc the Duke of Grayson is a man guarding a dark secret behind a carefully constructed wall of aloofness.
Watching the chemistry sizzle between these two, and seeing their characters develop, was a treat to read. I’m dying to read the rest of the series now.
EXCERPT
Jason looked bored. “Get to the important part, Grayson. Was she beautiful?”
Again, Marc was ill-prepared to answer such a question. Taken individually, that large mouth, those plump pink lips, her long nose, red hair, and freckled skin—nothing about her was spectacular by any means. But together, all those odd pieces and parts, which seemed so ordinary at first glance, fit together to form the picture of a particularly stunning woman.
“Yes,” he answered quite simply. No need to give Jason any more fodder for discussion by rambling on like some sort of awful poet.
Jason grinned from ear to ear. “Well, that is quite eventful, indeed.” He swept a crumb off his jacket sleeve. “Does this original have a name?”
Marc stopped suddenly, his coffee halfway to his lips. “Name?”
Jason laughed. “Yes, her name. This unique creature has to have a name. Diana? Aphrodite? Venus, perhaps?” Then Jason stopped laughing as realization spread over his face like a mordant rash. “You don’t know her bloody name, do you?”
Marc set his cup down on the table and stared at it. “She never volunteered the information and I never bothered to ask.”
