Well, it’s it’s Tuesday, and you know what that means! Time to share a bit about my writing. This has been the most amazing, supportive group. And I’ve had a blast learning more about each other every week as we hop along from blog to blog. Last week 1998 people popped in for a peek. Thanks so much!
Okay, here’s what’s on the table for this week.
In my first book, Highlander’s Hope, there was a scene where I needed Ewan to be able to see through Yvette’s nightgown when she bent over.
My editor said it wasn’t possible with candlelight.
So, I made my husband put on one of my long nighties, and then had him pose in various positions while I moved the candles around. We found that if he stood sideways, the candlelight filtered through the material.
Hubby is a Duck Dynasty kind of guy, and trust me when I tell you cramming his muscled hairy chest into my silky nightie was a sight to behold.
2. Name a nonfiction book you’ve read for research that you wouldn’t have read otherwise. Not including writing craft books.
I’ve read several books for research that I doubt I’d have read otherwise. They include:
- Jane Austen’s Guide to Good Manners
- Everyday Life in Regency and Victorian England
- Georgian & Regency Houses Explained
- English Society in the 18th Century
- Our Temptestuous Day-A History of Regency England
- Georgette’ Heyer’s Regency World.
The last was my favorite.
3. If you could travel anywhere to do research for a book, including back in time, where would you go?
Oh this is easy.
I’d go to Scotland and England in the early 1800s. I’d love to see what life was really like back then since all of my books so far have been set in that time period and in those locations. I do get to go to Scotland in the summer of 2015, but that’s just not the same as being there in real life.

Though, I wouldn’t want to stay in that time period. No modern conveniences.
Hey, I like my bathroom and shower, and gas heat, and electricity.
The questions this week were fun, as always. To see what Carolyn Spear has to say, continue on over to her blog. Until next week, happy hopping!
