Historical Dance-Hole in the Wall
While at the Historical Readers Retreat, I learned a historical dance called the Hole in the Wall. I know, such a strange title, right? Here I am with my roomie, the fabulous Victorian Vane as we practice the dance before all the readers arrived for the grand ball. Once I got the hang of the steps, it was a lot of fun! Until my heel caught in my petticoat and the gentleman you see there in the tricorn hat has to rescue me. I’m still blushing.
Now I now why the ladies wore slippers and not heels!
Ladies assemble on one side and gentleman on the either. A caller calls out the steps which are a series of turns and crossings. You can see us performing the dance in the video link below.
