“We meet, yet again, Mademoiselle Ferguson. I begin to suspect Fate must have a hand in our encounters, non?”
No. Definitely not.
Even Fate wasn’t that perverse or cruel.
Seonaid reluctantly opened her eyes, angling her head in the merest greeting. “Monsieur. I thought,”—prayed— “I’d seen the last of you in London.”

Your turn. Have fun!
Oh, and be sure to share and tweet!
The more eyes that see your masterpieces, the better!
I love Five Line Friday, Collette! Thanks! Here is mine from When a Laird Loves a Lady. It’s up for pre-order now and releases March 22.
Marion blinked her watery eyes and searched the darkness for Iain. He thundered out of the shadows and toward her, white mist rising from the ground, as if it were smoldering. The fog parted with each of his strides, and his sword sang in a high arc over his head. In all the nights, she’d stood on the rampart and watched her father and his men return from battle, she’d never seen a man look as fierce and frightening as her husband did. He didn’t seem like a mere mortal; he seemed like a God intent on decimation as he charged into the river to save her.

What fun! And thank you for allowing me to share! From my upcoming release, The Wicked North, a novel set in the American Civil War –
Virginia, June 1862
Emma Silvers was not afraid to shoot Yankees.
She leveled the .57 caliber Enfield rifle at the line of blue coats standing before her porch at Rose Hill that evening. She counted ten men, fully armed and wielding torches. They reeked of wet wool, sweat and gun powder–a noxious mixture combined with the scent of pink roses surrounding the house. Bile rose in her throat. She swallowed hard.
“I want you off my land, now,” she demanded, her voice remarkably even despite her pounding heart.

Love a woman who knows how to handle a gun.
Thanks, Collette. I’m back again for another go. This is from my new release, “The Beast’s Woman” — a romantic paranormal thriller with BDSM overtones.
New Orleans, 1894
….Yes, she’d been told about Jonathon Drake, reclusive owner of Club Diabolique. Then she met him in person and her adventure began. The man had been everything they’d said. Not only was he charming and gorgeous, but he possessed an animalistic essence, like a vibration projected outward that affected every female in the room. They were drawn to him, like moths to a flame. Katerina had been no exception, but he had singled her out in return, setting upon her like some big cat, a king of his jungle. She had been unable to resist. Tonight she would know why.

Yeah, I’m the Dean of Steam, the Sultan of Spank, the Duke of….
I love this! My five lines are from The Seduction of Esther, which is also on sale this month. It’s a contemporary romance revolving around the Jewish holiday of Purim.
Nathaniel met her eyes and for a moment, everything was fine. Fine, until recognition turned her brown eyes to cognac and her face to rose. Fine, until her hand shook and spilled her red wine down the front of his light blue shirt and burgundy tie.
He jumped back. This was the woman he remembered.

Now that’s brilliant!
This happens as they are finally escaping the Island. Sometimes even when all seems well with the hero and heroine they still disagree. Lily’s overbearing lover won’t even let her name their daughter. He has refused several suggestions. (Zambak, by the way is Turkish for Lily)
Richard lowered Lily and let her slide until her feet touched the sand.
He reached to help her into the yawl, but she raised her chin and suggested, “Hortense.” As she started to laugh, Richard’s kiss silenced any opposition.
“We will call her Zambak,” he said.
He lifted her into the boat and handed her their daughter.

I’m dying of curiosity now, Caroline!
Thanks, Collette! Happy Friday to you!
From my newest contemporary romance, Her Greatest Risk . . .
He caught his breath. Jennifer Aukland presented a cool and refined façade, but Michael had the distinct feeling that heat lurked just below the surface, and he imagined those big cat-like eyes could do incredible things to a man. He’d seen her quick reflexes on the tennis court, and the way her body sprung in sync with her powerful swing. The blood drained from his head.

Very catchy, Darlene.
Hello, Collette and thank you for this opportunity. Below are a few lines from my newest release, Glimpse Eternity. It just earned it’s first five star review.
“Kasey, I don’t…I didn’t…I mean…Kasey, I love you.”
She tasted him, felt the roughness of his unshaven face against her skin. She stared at him as hot tears stung her eyes. If only it were that easy.
If only….

I want to read more!
Sweet William is the last of my Wildflowers of Scotland novels and will be released early this summer. It follows Thistle Down (a novella), Wild Rose, Blue Belle and Shy Violet, all contemporary romantic suspense. http://www.amazon.com/Sherrie-Hansen/e/B007YXQJ4W
“Can I help?”
She glanced over her shoulder and saw William watching from the doorway..
“Why? So I can blame ye when it does nae turn out right?”
“No. So I can use my magic powers to make sure you’re comfortable and look great, too.”
“So now ye’re not only a cow whisperer and a bairn charmer, but a mind reader, too?”
“I’ve gotten to know you pretty well this last week. It doesn’t take that much talent to figure out what’s going on in that big, bright, beautiful mind of yours.”
“Okay. That settles it. I’m lining the inside of my chef’s hat with tin foil to deflect the probes ye’re using to infiltrate my gray matter.”
Poor William. He might as well admit defeat.
Yay, it’s Friday again! I love this feature of your blog, Collette. 🙂 This is from Lord Quickthorn’s Bargain, my novella in the anthology, Passionate Promises.
“Promise me,” she said.
Rex hesitated, thinking, *Too many promises.* His sister might pretend to be prim and proper, but a twinkle lurked in her dark eyes. He shouldn’t agree to everything she asked. She was a fairy, after all, so there were sure to be unforeseen consequences.
Yes, but dealing with them would give him something to do. *Anything but boredom. Please.*
“Very well,” he said. As he watched her flit away into the wood, he wondered just whom she was so anxious to protect from his wicked wiles.

Oh, a sister who’s a fairy!
Lovely excerpts. I do enjoy reading them all. Mine is a moment of scandal from A Baron for Becky.
On Monday, the Overtons, after a quiet day at home, joined the Chirburys in their box at the opera. Aldridge, in his own private box with the infamous Rose of Frampton, caused something of a stir when he and his mistress passionately embraced halfway through the second act, then left the theatre abruptly.
By now, a number of people had noticed the resemblance between Lady Overton and Rose Darling, but that they were two separate women was beyond doubt.
On Tuesday, the Duchess of Haverford held a ball, and Society held its collective breath to see the Merry Marquis meet a lady who looked so like his mistress. They were disappointed.

I’m absolutely dying to know more, Jude!!
Once again we return to My Lady Valentine. Having received the duke’s blessing for Matt to offer for his goddaughter Matthew goes to the Earl and Countess of Banworth’s townhouse.
Handing his coat over to the butler, Matt made his way to the first floor and strolled casually down the hall. As he passed the earl’s office he heard his name called out. He stepped in.
“M’ lord.” Matt bowed.
“From your grin I suspect everything went well with the duke?”

Thanks, Collette! Here’s an excerpt from my latest release HIS PIRATE SEDUCTRESS
Thomas’s gaze caught on the pirate’s face, a face with soft, feminine features. What in heaven’s name? She struck again. This time, his sidestep wasn’t quite quick enough, and her blade scored his outer thigh. The resulting sting restored him to his senses. “You’re a pirate?”

Here is a five line excerpt of this Cape Cod paranormal romance
How could no one have noticed these for so many years?” Liz said.
“Keep this nightgown, Miss Lizzy.” Mae hung it on a hanger over the closet door. “The sachet kept it fresh and the wrinkles will come out in time. A real lady lived here. The best of everything.”
Liz watched the girls fluffing pillows and turning down covers on the four-poster bed. Another moment of déjà vu diffused through the room.
