“I want to kiss you.”
Not more than an inch separated their lips.
“Yes.” She dared not breathe, having waited for this moment for so long, nothing must disturb the magic.
“You’re sure?” Nostrils flared, his hot gaze fastened on her lips. Ever the gentleman, Falcon paused and lifted his desire-laden eyes to hers. He brushed her lower lip with his thumb again. “You want me to continue?”
Woman’s intuition told her he asked for much more than a kiss or two. Ivonne smiled, past caring if he knew the secret she’d long nurtured in her soul. “I’ve waited a lifetime to kiss you.”
Yancy shifted the tiniest bit. “I suppose you wouldn’t believe me if I told you I’ve every intention of marrying her.”
Isobel swung her gaze to him. “Pardon?”
A twinkle entered his eyes. “Not the most romantic proposal, I know. A sword at one’s throat does rather ruin the moment.”
Had he said he intended to marry her to save his skin?
Father and Dugall appeared ready to pummel him. Ewan yet threatened with the sword tip, and the others’ countenances were no less menacing except Harcourt who seemed highly amused by the situation.
Glaring, Isobel jerked her head toward the door. “Leave. All of you, so I can rise.”
I never thought the indiscretions of my youth would return to bite me in the butt by walking through the door of the Susie Buddha Café in Syracuse’s trendy Armory Square district, but they did. Or rather, one did. Winslow Winthrop Winston the Whatever, commonly known as Win.
I don’t know if I lost my ability to breathe because I was terrified he’d recognize and expose me or because he was just so darned good-looking. Probably the result of both. Win had always had a paralyzing effect on me.

What a catchy snippet!
10 lines — woot! This is a snippet from Lady of the Flames. Andromeda has just overheard her obnoxious betrothed, Lord Slough, plotting treason, and she fears he knows she heard him.
“A lady shouldn’t venture out at night alone,” Lord Slough said. “You shall not do so once we are married.”
Andromeda managed a laugh and a wan smile. “Certainly not—only a minute or two on the terrace and my slippers are quite stained.” She should explain. “I wouldn’t have done so tonight, except that it was so dreadfully hot in here, such a crush with all the people and so many candles.” That sounded reasonable, didn’t it? “Fortunately, there was no one else outdoors.”
“Fortunate indeed,” he said, and she had to repress another shudder at his smooth tone. “We should leave now,” he added softly. “There’s no need for your aunt to accompany us.”
Did he know she’d overheard their conversation? She might have merely stepped onto the terrace, just as she’d said, unless… She visualized the small drawing room where she’d hidden, the long curtains at the French doors…
Might her slippers have shown beneath the hem of the curtains? Or had she somehow moved the curtain a little, alerting him to her presence?
She shivered again. He had never before suggested anything as improper as accompanying her home alone. She knew with sudden certainty that if the footman hadn’t returned, she would now be dead.
If she left with Lord Slough, he would surely kill her.

Oh, I have shivers too!
Here’s a bit from my recent release, Going Rogue. The hero and heroine, who are at odds with one another, just had a moment…
“This.” He waved his hands wildly. “You did it again!”
“I did nothing!” she yelled back. “I was just minding my own business when you pulled me in here and accosted me.”
“I accosted you?” He pointed at himself, mocking her with his tone. “I think you have it the other way around. You kissed me.”
She folded her arms across her chest. “I was coerced.”
“If anyone was doing the coercing, it was you!”
Meredith held up her injury. “You were caressing my hand!”
“I was examining it for a possible fracture.”
“No surgeon ever looked for a broken bone with his mouth!”
His nostrils flared. “This cannot happen again.”

Have a happy Mother’s Day!!
LOL! Fabulous, Jessica. :~))
I’m chuckling!!!
Ten lines? I’m all a flutter!! I love the other excerpts as well! Here is mine from A Kiss for Lady Mary.
Mary sat in the window seat of her parlor, staring out at the garden. It had been three days since she and Kit had gone on the picnic, and although he was very attentive and everything one could expect from a gentleman, something was wrong. She’d made sure he’d had several opportunities to kiss her, and just when she thought he would, nothing happened. He had to kiss her. Otherwise she wouldn’t know if she could love him.
This was very much the same as when she’d thought he would ask her to dance during her first Season. Was he finding it that difficult to like her enough to kiss her? If that was the case, she didn’t want him. She’d be no man’s penance.

Happy Mother’s Day!!
Ouch! I wonder what’s up with Kit??
I know, ten lines…be still my heart.
Love the excerpts! And thank you for letting me share ten lines from Love, Eternally, Book One of the Roman Time Travel Series.
A dark figure loomed in the doorway, backlit by the hall’s candlelight. “Gigi… I came as quickly as I could.”
Overjoyed to hear Magnus’s voice after so long, she ran across the room, flinging herself into his outstretched arms. She could feel his heart pounding as they clung to one another. His scent was just as she remembered: incense and wine, exotic, intoxicating.
“I’m so glad you’re back,” she whispered.
His mouth lowered to hers. His kiss began tenderly, then deepened, her lips yielding to him, hot waves rippling to her core. The world dissolved, reality swept away. Wrapped in his arms, she knew only him, her heart hammering back to his in longing.
“Gigi,” he groaned her name, and she was brought back, her blood rushing wild with the risks they were taking, the danger of being found out. She was his without question, and, from the power of his kiss, she knew he was equally at her mercy.
“Gigi, look at me.” His gaze was hidden by shadow, dark depths within his face. “I thought I had lost you,” he said gruffly.
“You will never lose me.”

I love the idea of a Roman time travel.
Me, too. Ancient Rome is fascinating.
Thank you, Collette and Barbara. Cary (my co-author) and I had a lot of fun with this series. We wrote it so that our heroine must learn Latin after she travels back in time. It allowed us to create a time travel story that went beyond the usual British Isles time travel books. Love those exotic— and ancient— settings!
Here’s a snippet from my recent release, Tempting the Pirate. http://tamarahughes.com/books/
When she glanced back, his eyes burned into hers. “No, damn it. You’re not going back down there.” He crushed her to him, his lips claiming her with so much passion, her legs wobbled. James tightened his hold, and her heart warmed. Never gets jealous, indeed. If she hadn’t been busy kissing the most infuriating man in the world, she would have grinned. Instead, she relished the moment, his strong arms around her, his mouth on hers. Oh, and his tongue. She opened her lips to his probing and touched her tongue to his.
Tempting him, indeed. 😉
I need a fan, Tamara!! Scrumptious.
This from A TOUCH OF PASSION $2.99 Regency romance.
Grayson’s lip was bloodied, and a huge red mark showed upon his chin where a nice bruise was quickly forming. He looked impossibly handsome and abashed . . . and angry. What had he to be angry over? She knew he had demons to face, but he’d hurt her so much by leaving when she was ill.
“May I enter?”
At least he asked. She held back a curt Why are you here? and motioned for him to enter. She would try to behave like a grown-up. “I did not expect you back in Dorset so soon. Do you have news of DePalma?”
He strolled directly toward her and stood in front of her, staring at her face. The silence dragged on, making her skin prickle. He watched her as if she were the only thing in the world he desired, but she knew that was a lie.
“I’m sorry.” His soft words, full of sorrow, were accompanied by his finger tenderly stroking her cheek.

I love the excerpts for this book Bron!!
Thanks Collette! This is from LADY HONOR’S DEBT- The Baxendale Sisters, Book One.
Lady Honor might have been the lady of the house. Required to entertain a strange male alone, there was nothing coquettish or hesitant in her manner. Her slim fingers grasped the silver tongs and added a slice of lemon to his cup. “Might I tempt you with a sandwich or a piece of seed cake, my lord?”
“Yes, thank you.”Edward took an egg-and-cress sandwich and a slab of cake, placing them on his plate. When the maid returned, he stirred sugar into his tea, then leaned back in his chair, surprised to be enjoying himself. The room had a pleasant ambiance.
“Do you read the Romantic poets, my lord?” Her question evoked long, dreary conversations with Olivia and spoiled his mood.
“I’m afraid I haven’t as yet had that pleasure.”
The door opened and two young girls on the brink of womanhood danced in, dressed in sprigged muslin, followed by a golden-haired hound. The dog nudged the sleeping cats into wakefulness. The larger of the two cats yowled and arched its back, and the dog retreated, settling at the youngest girl’s feet with a rumbling groan. Edward watched, fascinated, for no one took the slightest bit of notice of the contretemps.

Love the dog and cat interactions!!
Thanks for the opportunity, Collette! I enjoyed reading the other excerpts! It’s difficult to find a piece that’s only 10 lines, so I took a little chunk out of the middle of mine:
Harriet squeezed her eyes shut as the curricle bore down upon her. She heard the horses’ hooves pound on the path and wheels crunch. The turbulence of the air blasted her.
The impact she expected didn’t happen, though she could feel hot air blow against her gloved hand as a horse snorted. She opened her eyes to see the curricle stopped a hair’s-breadth short of her and her mare. Miraculously, the team’s sharp shoes had missed the yelling groom. . . .
She raised her gaze to the driver. Deep blue eyes met hers-Lord Beldon! Her stomach fluttered at seeing him, despite the close call. He leaped down and came to her side, taking over the reins. “Are you all right?” he asked in a shaky voice.
“I th-think so.” Her voice shook, and she turned away and dismounted, to look after her prostrate groom.
