Well, this dowdy mouse was about to make a bold transformation.
Newfound determination in her step, Ivonne marched to her chamber. No more being made sport of and pitied for her ordinary appearance. She was about to set London on its ear.
“Just you wait, gentlemen.”
This is from the third chapter of my regency romance, The Ruse.
Chadwick reviewed his plan from all angles. The way he saw it, it was the only way to pay off his gambling debts and replace the money in the estate coffers before his brother returned. Complications, such as where to find a partner for his little adventure, were shoved aside under the overwhelming need to acquire coin. His pulse raced. The challenge drew him as much as his need and the thrill of the anticipated escapade brought excitement to his dull existence.
The Ruse is FREE until May 3rd.

Kenneth’s eyes darted from his brother to Grant and back again. He shifted his weight, put his hand on the rapier at his hip, thought better of it, and relaxed his hands. “Come to what?”
“The life I want to give you is not yours, Kenn.” Malcolm closed his eyes, and his voice shook. “‘Tis mine.”
Love your books, Meggan!
Thanks so much, Collette. This is from the end of Chapter 1 of Only Scandal Will Do, on sale at Amazon for .99. Lady Katarina Fitzwilliam has been kidnapped and taken to a brothel in Georgian London:
A thunderous roar emanated from behind a dull red curtain, as though an entire army caroused there, making her stomach cramp with fear.
The swordsman bent his head to whisper, “If you try to run, to take the mask off–anything at all–my sword will find its mark before the night is over.” Then he heaved her over the shoulder of a blond giant dressed in the purple and white robes of a Roman senator. A soft “ugh” escaped her along with her breath as she landed on his collarbone. She hung there, struggling to breathe, less afraid of suffocating than of what lay beyond the red curtain.

Jenna, this is fabulous!!
Loving these posts so far- will check back later to read more. My snippet is from my WIP called “Milady and Her Spy” – end of Chapter Two. Jillian
“Watch out, Mr. Cuthbert, I might start thinking you’re a true gentleman and we can’t have that, can we?” She laughed and pulled her hand back.
Before Myles could respond, Augusta switched her seat on the horse and now astride the horse as if she were a man, galloped off at a fast pace, followed closely by her brother.
Myles shook his head and moved toward the inn. He muttered under his breath, “No one would ever mistake you, milady, as a true lady, would they?”
Oh, I’m thinking Myles will eat his words!
🙂 LOL!
The Bride of Falcon is terrific!!!!!!!. Collette captures and holds your attention, right from the start. A stubborn, nasty, unwanted suitor, a wounded hero, a Bluestocking young lady, and lots of misunderstandings make this a can’t put down read. I loved it.
Deb, you are so sweet! Hugs.
Hi Collette! Thanks for the opportunity. Here are the ending lines from chapter one of A BREACH OF PROMISE, which was my debut historical romance and is still my best selling book :-).
“Oh ye of little faith,” Marcus drawled. “Lydia is nothing if not malleable. She will be begging me to wed her when I am finished with her.”
“Indeed? And just how do you expect to achieve such an about-face?” Nick asked.
Marcus stood at the mantel mirror, fussing with his lace cuffs, adjusting his cravat and openly admiring his reflection. “I’ll beguile her with the full power of my persuasive charm.”
“And should that fail?”
Marcus turned to his secretary with a slow, devious grin. “Why, Nick, I’d have thought it obvious. I’ll just have to ruin her.”

That Marcus!! Now I’m dying to know more.
It’s a fun story but very racy. Marcus starts out a total jackass but Lydia brings him to heel!
I have a Lydia in my Highland Heather Series.
This is from my romantic comedy mystery, Temporarily Employed:
I’d rehearsed. If I was a big girl and if I truly wanted what my heart truly desired, I had to continue. Gathering my courage, I looked at his lovely face, the one belonging to the man I adored with my heart, with my soul. His stance softened. Please. Taking another breath, I mustered every ounce of bravery I possessed and said, “Choose me.”

Thank you, Collette!
I adore romantic comedies!!
This is from my contemporary romance, Restoration: My hero, Drew, has taken Grace on a trip to visit Edinburgh, Scotland.
“So, what shall we do today?” he asked.
“You’ve been here before. How about you play Scottish tour guide?”
“Aye, lassie, ye cannae pick a better guide than me,” Drew said with an over-exaggerated Scottish burr.
She giggled and collected her purse while he finished dressing. “Oh, good. I’ve always dreamt of having my own personal Highlander. Where to first?”

Love that snippet, Kim.
I hope I’m not too late to the party! This is from my May 6th release – Going Rogue, book one from the Ribbons and Rogues series.
His gaze locked briefly with hers. Her eyes were heavy with desire and her lips were red and swollen from the pleasurable assault.
He said nothing. Instead, he walked straight for the door—ready to leave the place where his vision for the future had been shattered into thousands of irreparable shards.
And he’d be damned before he tried to pick them up.
And it is for pre-sale now (shameless plug) http://www.amazon.com/Going-Rogue-Ribbons-Rogues-Book-ebook/dp/B00W874KXQ
Thanks so much, Collette!! I love reading these each week.
