Well, since I had a release last week too, I think it only fair to give Passionate Promises another moment in the spotlight.
This is from A Kiss for Miss Kingsley, my contribution to the boxed set.
The past few weeks, we’ve had lots and lots of page views! Yay!
Thanks for doing this Collette!! This is a little snippet from my latest, Waltzing with the Earl 🙂
Taking a step closer, he brought his hand to her face, his gloved thumb dancing intimately across her cheek. Her heart pounded against her ribs, practically stealing her breath.
“Lord Trevena.” His name exited her lips in a breathy gasp.
He bent his head and whispered his name across her cheek. “Tristram.”
Isabel could not imagine anything more sensual than this moment. She lifted her chin, and their cheeks brushed. His lips were so close, but still too far away. His warm breath teased her senses. Closing her eyes, she waited for his kiss.

Okay, you had me snared at his sexy name. Tristram. Oh my!
Ditto on the thanks for doing this, Collette! I love reading the historicals. Here’s a snippet from a contemporary romance, TV Bride:
Late May in Sausalito. Samantha Parker took a deep breath and smiled at the universe. Life didn’t get much better. Today she was moving into the perfect cottage for a rent she could almost afford. All she had to do was sign on the dotted line, transport the stuff she’d loaded into a U-Haul back home in Stockton and accept delivery of her new bed. Practically bouncing on air, she flew into the property manager’s office one minute early to sign the lease and get the keys from the owner, kindly Mrs. Harrigan.
Samantha’s descent from the clouds didn’t begin until she saw Mrs. Harrigan weeping into a lace-trimmed hanky.

What a teaser!! I’m dying to know more!
Fun, Alanna — and suspenseful. Will he or won’t he?? LOL.
Enjoyed that, Meg. The lace-trimmed hanky is a lovely touch. 🙂
Thanks, Collette. Here’s a snippet from Lord Quickthorn’s Bargain, my contribution to Passionate Pleasures. Gwen has gone to the fairy well late at night to ask for help…
“Kindly state your wish, or plea, or boon, or whatever it is,” said Rex, beginning to enjoy himself. Perhaps acting as custodian of the fairy well in his sister’s place wouldn’t be so boring after all.
There was a long silence, during which his fair visitor resumed wringing out the hem of her gown. “Oh, dear,” she said softly, and raised her head at last. “The thing is… I had hoped…to, er, to discuss this particular problem with a—a female fairy.”
What fun! thought Rex. “Then you will have to wait another week.”
“I can’t wait another week,” she blurted. “I need help *now*.”
Seems like we all had the same thought today, Barbara. Wonderful!
Thanks Collette. This is from Stirring Passions, my contribution to Passionate Promises.
Laurie drew away. “I probably shouldn’t have done that, Kat. Don’t think I don’t respect you.”
Respect was fine in its place. She would prefer a man desire her and certainly didn’t regret the kiss. She touched her fingers to her lips and shook her head. “I know your papa’s fond of me, but I doubt he would want you to marry me,” she said, expressing what Laurie must know to be true.
Laurie’s eyes had a purposeful sheen. “I promise you, Kat, if you want me as much as I do you, we will marry. I’ll make Father see the sense of it, if he doesn’t already.”

I haven’t had a chance to read the anthology yet, but I can’t wait to read this, Maggi!
Thanks, Collette! This is from my first-ever WIP (romantic suspense) and is my first-ever “Five Line Friday” post (gulp). It’s just a day filled with firsts for me! Enjoy!
The more Gwen fought the darkness holding her mercilessly in its grasp, the stronger it became—dragging her back into the abyss. Even as overwhelming exhaustion weighed her down—tempting her with its peace and solitude—a muted part of her psyche clawed and scrabbled away from the false promise.
No longer able to resist the pull, she was ready to release her grip—to concede defeat to oblivion—when sounds filtered through the miasma. Or was it merely the taunts of her scrambled mind?
Thanks, Again!
I’m so glad you popped over today!!
Yeah, Five-Line-Friday: From my new release scheduled for the last week of April: One More Time is Not Enough
Excerpt:
Before he could protest, she ran to him, her arms encircling him, her body pressed against his, her face buried in his shoulder. “After everything that we’ve meant to each other, David, please don’t shut me out.”
“Don’t you understand how hard this is for me?” His fingers stroked her long, dark hair as if he were comforting a child. It was more than he could bear holding her like this. He pulled free of her and walked away, determined to resist her.
Thanks, Collete.

As always, simply fabulous!
Thank you Collette for allowing this opportunity to for us to post a tiny snippet. This one is from My Lady Valentine, Book 4 in the Rogues and Rakehells Mystery series.
Glancing down Matt watched as she slowly lowered her fan, first exposing her eyes—blue as the sky on a warm sunny day. He’d seen that exact shade before, but couldn’t remember when or where. It wasn’t until she’d brought the fan lower letting him see her nose, petite with a light-brown freckle at its tip, that he knew her. France. And the man they’d hunted separately but together. However, he’d never had a chance to learn her name.

From my last release Northwoods: Christmas Surprise:
I won’t force a kiss on you. If you’d prefer, we can forget the bet.”
She gazed into his incredibly blue eyes and saw the spark daring her to back out of their deal. No way in hell would she give him the satisfaction. “I wouldn’t think of reneging on our bet, Tam. Take your kiss.”
Thank you, Collette
Appreciate your support,

This is from my current #amediting, Embracing Prudence.
They kissed, and it was a hello and a farewell all at once. This one kiss would have to sustain them for a month or more. It lasted an eternity and was over too soon.
“I do not want to leave you,” David said at last, drawing his head back but keeping her locked in his arms.
“I do not want you to go. But we each have our duties. Go, David. Finish your enquiries and come home to me.”
David smiled, more a warmth in the eyes than a movement of the lips. “Home. Home is wherever you are, Prue.” He kissed her again, a gentle benediction, then stepped away and opened the door.

That’s so sweet.
Thanks Collette! From Holiday Hearts Awakening…
She tucked her head deeper into the warmth of his neck, his male-musk and strength a double-edged sword. Her pounding heart tripped to a different beat as she breathed him in, its cadence slowing from fear to the steady beat of his own.
His now escalating heartbeat, she realized, ratcheting even faster when she wiggled again to get even closer to the delicious heat of his body. He apparently wasn’t unaffected, after all.
She told herself sternly there was no way she was going to act on this unwanted attraction, even if he reciprocated.

Oh my!
Here you go, Collette!
From my upcoming Christmas Novella – Beneath the Christmas Moon
Dear God Almighty, his lips were warm and firm as they played against hers. He pulled her flush against his strong body, slightly lifting her up onto her toes. She melted a little, against this stranger, the hard wall of his chest. Her heart a reassured at their attraction to one other. When his hands moved over her back, then traveled down her hips, she pulled away. ‘Twas too soon, too intimate.
Thanks!

Already working on Christmas! What a woman. Fabulous snippet too.
Thanks, Collette! And loved your excerpt! From my current WIP, What the Scot Hears, England 1814 @ The Silent Witch Inn :
The faded green door to room #12 closed with a soft click.
Mrs. Amelia Chase, newly-minted-spy-extraordinaire (in her own mind anyway) and all-around Independent American Woman, blew away the stray hairs from her falling coiffure and peeked around the corner in time to see the verdant door click shut. The room had to belong to Churchmouse/Dansbury…or whatever he wanted to call himself. He was the last person to climb the stairs ahead of her; she knew for she’d been watching him surreptitiously all evening.
Or at least she had when she hadn’t been caught up in the scowling glare of that silent, hulking brute, Alaistair MacLeod.
Amy, I can see this, and Amelia is utterly charming.
Hi Collette. Thank you for always extending the opportunity to share. The following is from my current release, The Duke’s Temptation.
Without turning, Gabe bid him to enter. “A man could starve waiting for you.”
“Oh, he could, could he?”
Gabe spun toward the door. Instead of his elderly butler, a vision of beauty stood before him. An angel with strands of gold spun around her head and a cloud of transparent blue circling her body.
But the woman before him was no angel, not unless God had started to lure men into temptation at the hands of the ethereal creatures.
Pure and wanton sin stood before him.

Lovely! I’m betting Gabe gets into all kinds of trouble with her!
