It will not surprise you to discover this historical romance writer LOVES period movies and television series. And while I do have the first four seasons of Downton Abbey on DVD, it isn’t my favorite. BBC America’s Ripper Street is my #1 guilty historical pleasure.
Set in Victorian England, just after Jack the Ripper murders his last known victim and slinks back into whatever evil cesspool spawned him, Ripper Street is centered around three men who work in H Division in the White Chapel district of London, a sort of CSI team Victorian London style. I am so grateful Amazon Studios acquired the rights and will be producing a third season. (BBC UK had cancelled the series after just two seasons. Idiots.)
