This week’s questions are from the amazing Beth Carter, and I’m hoping you trotted over here from Kim Handysides’s blog.
1. Which type of character do you prefer writing about: Sexy, romantic, sweet, quirky, mean, old, young, smart, silly or other?
How about all of the above?
Well, not the mean so much, though I do have some villains who are pretty nasty.
I enjoy writing characters that are true to life and multidimensional. I like to think their romantic and sexy, but each has their quirks and flaws.
Some of my characters are silly, but those are usually secondary characters, and I always lean toward writing hero/heroines with a sense of humor.
2. Have you ever killed off (or gotten back at) an ex in your writing? On paper,of course.
Oh yeah!
I have a character in one of my books that I created because someone stabbed me in the back. Let’s just say they ended up being a horrible individual with disgusting habits and who will likely die as a result.
Did I mention their death will be long and painful?
Word of advice: don’t tick off an author. They can do all kinds of really unpleasant things to you.
The opposite is true too, though.
I’ve included real-life things that aren’t revenge.
For instance, in The Earl’s Enticement, I have a dachshund named Kiki in honor of one of my dachsies I lost almost two years ago after she was poisoned by a Waggin Train Chicken Jerky treat.
I’d like to write the owner of that company into my novels, but I’m not into torturing humans . . . even if they do deserve it.
I also have a maid in The Earl’s Enticement who has deformed hands. I based her disability on my great-grandmother’s hands.
I frequently mention birds and flowers since I’m an avid bird watcher and gardener.
I’ve also been known to mention baking, traveling, and dogs.

All of my books have dogs in them.
Okay now we get to head over to Betty Bolte’s!
