Six Years Published and RONE Awards
Good Morning!
I woke up today with a smile on my face. Not only because I’m celebrating six-years published, but the second of my three books nominated for the InD’Tale Magazine’s RONE awards voting begins today.
When I started on my writing journey in February of 2011, it was due to a mixture of empty nest syndrome (my youngest had just gone off to college) and too much time on my hands. I also just completed my Masters’ In Teaching degree and though I was substituting a lot, I needed something to occupy the rest of my time. For years I’d though I might write a book; not romance though. Too much dialogue, but then a scene from HIGHLANDER’S HOPE popped into my mind and wouldn’t go away. I finally decided that if I was ever going to write a book, now was the perfect time.
Six months later, I finished HIGHLANDER’S HOPE, a sloppy overly-long (156,000 words) and full of all the typical mistakes a newby author makes. I entered a few contest, received constructive feedback and rewrote the story. I then submitted to a few big houses, was made aware of more ways I could improve my writing, and rewrote it again. I took a deep breath, summoned my nerve, and submitted to another publishing house– a smaller press this time, and within four days had a request for the full manuscript. Four days later, I was offered a contract. I published 9 books through Soul Mate Publishing and have written and self-published another twenty.
I recenty signed an 8-book contract recently with another small press, Dragonblade, and I’m working away on that Highlander series. The first of those books will release November 2019. I’m also editing the fourth book in my Seductive Scoundrel’s Series, WHAT WOULD A DUKE DO? and you’ll see the 7th book in my Highland Heather Romancing a Scot series in a Christmas Collection.
ONLY A DUKE WOULD DARE NOVELLA CATEGORY RONE NOMINEE!
