My snippet this week is from HER SCANDALOUS WISH
“Bradford, you don’t have to marry me. I know I’m not your first choice, and now that Giles is …” She blinked away the fresh sting of tears and swallowed past the lump clogging her throat. “Well, not meeting anyone on the field of honor anytime soon, there’s really no need to bother to see this through to the end. I do thank you for the noble gesture, nonetheless.”
Though curiosity screeched in umbrage at being denied a glimpse of the ring, she placed the unopened jewelry box in his palm. Better not to know, for all that stood between her disintegrating into a weeping ninny was an eyelash width of pride.
Bradford stared at the case for a long moment before lifting his thick-lashed eyes to hers, and her heart gave a painful flip. Love shouldn’t be simultaneously agonizing and glorious.
Pre-Order Here:
Excerpt from The One: The scent of her perfume filled his nostrils. It was maddening how much he desired her. It was an obsession, a weakness within him that only she could satisfy. With sexual allure she engulfed his senses and he completely forgot about the computer. His hands caressed the buttery leather covering her ass. He wondered if he should take her right here on the desk.
Hope he saved his work!
WIP. In Pursuit of a Scottish Lady
Madame Demey threw her legs over the side of the chaise and sat upright. “I am not without influence, your grace.”
Worth laughed softly but it had a sneering tone. “I am influence and wealth and power, Madame. I suggest it is in your best interest you halt this delay and tell me where I can find her.” Worth felt her hesitate. The head of the figurine snapped in his fingers.
Madame Demey gasped in shock. “That was quite expensive.”
I bet he always gets what he wants!
This is from my work in progress. It’s the first meeting between the hero and heroine:
His mind raced, and his skin began to prickle as they neared the house. The light-haired woman had spotted him as they had come down the path. She tore out of the house, skirts flying, with her big rifle on her shoulder.
“Stop right there and unhand my daughter!”
Lone Wolf stopped, as directed, and raised one hand over his head.
Smart man. Don’t mess with a woman holding a gun!
Collette, once again thank you for this thoughtful opportunity. Below is a snippet from my new Valentine’s love story “Glimpse Eternity”, available for a pre-order introduction price of only .99 cents. Feb 23rd is go-live date and price moves to $2.99.
This is a glimpse of when Ben really messed up with Kasey and left town:
Could he possibly have handled the situation any worse? Some songwriter he was. Well, he sure could pour it out now. The stuff he was penning lately was all heartbreak. He’d take her a dozen roses, pour his heart out and hope she was in the mood to overlook his stupidity.
He was going right now. A man on a mission.

Roses are good start!!
Thank you Collette and everyone for these awesome excerpts! I love the last line on yours, Collette!
I’m sharing the proposal scene from my Valentine’s Day story, “A Valentine for Lily”:
He pulled the floral centerpiece close. The arrangement was simple, clipped flowers stuck into a piece of green foam in a low container. The fact that he’d gone to the trouble sent her heart pounding.
“Take a look,” he said. “There’s hidden treasure.”
Lily poked through the blooms and found a box. The gypsy violins switched songs, the melody slowing, out of sync with her racing pulse. Surely, after only three weeks, this wasn’t a ring.
Or, okay, maybe Buck knew her longer, from a distance. And maybe he had been there for her all that time, quietly helping her in ways that really counted.
The story is up for free on my website through February 29th: http://alinakfield.com/free-romance-reads/
Thank you, Alina!!
Excerpt from Scandalous Intentions:
“I agree to your terms but have a demand of my own.”
She released her lip and met his gaze.
Again, he leaned in close. His breath caressed her earlobe and neck. “You will grace my bed every night.”

Oh, I bet that’s more than she bargained for.
Thanks for this, Collette. Here is an excerpt from my paranormal erotic romance thriller, just released, “The Beast’s Woman.”
This is the first meeting between my hero and heroine —
Another sound in the front room made her gasp and whirl around. In the bedroom doorway stood a tall figure clad in black, his face hidden by a hood.
“Ahgh! Wh-who are you?” She backed up, now scared out of her wits.
“I might ask you the same thing,” the figure said.
Casually, he stepped inside and scanned the room, noting the disarray and damage. Lucy beheld a tall man, all in tight black clothing. His body was sinewy and lean with broad shoulders and long arms. When he flipped back his hood, Lucy saw the face of a man in his forties—dark short cropped hair, dark eyes that were large like a cat’s, and heavy eyebrows. A hawk-like nose and a prominent jawline imparted an aristocratic look to a visage covered with the unshaven stubble of a dark beard beginning to form. He was the most devastatingly handsome man Lucy had ever seen.

Here’s one from Save the Last Dance for Me, the first in my series of sweet Regency novellas (buy links can be found here: https://coraleeauthor.wordpress.com/maitland-maidens-series/save-the-last-dance-for-me/). Thanks for the opportunity, Collette!
“What about the Renaissance reference? Lord Thomas and his Shakespeare—did you find that appealing?” He said it with a teasing tone, and she laughed.
“Why Mr. Grey, are you jealous?”
“Should I be?” He turned his hand over beneath hers and lowered his voice. “We are supposed to be courting, after all.”
I love this, Cora!
Thanks! It’s one of my favorite parts 🙂
The Widow’s Walk is a Cape Cod Paranormal romance in the Unfinished Business Series. The prequel is due out in April 2016
Mike and Liz Keeny are newlyweds, new parents, and the proprietors of the Barrett Inn, an 1875 Victorian on Cape Cod, which just happens to be haunted. By their own ghosts. The Inn had become an annex of Purgatory, putting Mike, Liz, and their infant son in danger. Selling the historic seaside bed and breakfast was the only answer, one that Liz and her own tortured specter refused to consider. Were they doomed to follow the same path that led to disaster in their previous lives? Was getting out, getting away, enough?
Excerpt
“You can joke all you want, Mike, but this is serious. We can’t let anyone else in.”
“I won’t say a word about anything ghostly to anyone. As long as things stay under control.”
Liz studied him.
Mike squirmed. “I think I’m going to take a nap.” He settled back on the sofa.
She tucked the blanket around him and kissed him on the cheek. “I’ll go help Mae with dinner.”
She didn’t believe him. He didn’t trust her. This was never going to work.

Breakwater Beach is a Cape Cod paranormal romance in the Unfinished Business Series. It is due for release in April 2016.
Liz Levine is convinced her recently deceased husband is engineering the sequence of events that propels her into a new life. But it’s sea captain Edward Barrett, the husband that died over a century ago, who has returned to complete their unfinished business. Edward’s lingering presence complicates all her plans and jeopardizes a new relationship that reawakens her passion for life and love. What are Captain Barrett’s plans for his wife, and for the man who is the new object of her affections?
Excerpt:
“How could no one have noticed these for so many years?” said Liz. “It’s too damp up here to leave them out. I’ll donate them to the Brewster Historical Society and the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.”
“Keep this nightgown, Miss Lizzy.” Mae hung it on a hanger over the closet door. “The sachet kept it fresh and the wrinkles will come out in time. A real lady lived here. The best of everything.”
Liz watched the girls fluffing pillows and turning down covers on the four-poster bed. Another moment of déjà vu diffused through the room.

Very intriguing!
What a great snippet! And I’m so glad I finally have an internet connection that allowed me to join you! Here is mine from Three Weeks to Wed.
Grace sallied out to Bond Street followed by Harold to exchange the ribbon. She stepped out of the haberdasher’s and saw Worthington across the street engaged in conversation with another gentleman. For a moment, she stood, frozen to the pavement.
He stopped speaking and turned as if he could sense her presence. The next thing she knew he had stepped purposefully into the busy street. A coach driver shouted, bringing his vehicle to a halt, and blocked her view of him.

Loved the snippet too.
Love all the excerpts! Thank you for doing this, Collette!
It’s always a lot of fun, and I love the sneak peaks!
This is from Wild Rose, the 1st of my Wildflowers of Scotland novels (contemporary romantic suspense):
“Rose, we’ve never really talked aboot how you feel aboot the possibility of you sharing your life with a minister.”
“It is a bit daunting,” she confessed. “I’m afraid my faith isn’t as deep as yours. I mean, I know it isn’t. And even if I try to do some spiritual exercises, or take a class in Biblical wisdom, or start praying even when nothing is wrong, or try to love God more, or whatever people do when they’re trying to enrich themselves, I’d never catch up to you.”
“But you don’t have to be-”
“Yes, I do. It’s what people would expect.”
“Is a surgeon’s wife expected to know gross anatomy? Is an investor’s wife expected to be a Wall Street wiz? Is a golf pro’s wife expected to make a hole in one?”
From Wild Rose by Sherrie Hansen – Pastor Ian MacCraig and Wild Rose. A match made in heaven or one hell of a predicament? http://amzn.com/1938101421
Love it!
Oh, this is fun! Thank you so much for this, Collette! Now, how do you feel about traveling to Scotland to attend a medieval tournament – in Victorian England? The following snippet is from The Bride Prize: Allan’s Miscellany 1839, the first in my series of historical romances about a fictional Victorian magazine. The novella should be free at all retailers’ sites. 🙂
“There’s a Knight of the Griffin and a Knight of the Dragon and a Knight of the Black Lion AND a Knight of the Golden Lion.” Flo handed the programme to her father. “Quite an abundance of lions, isn’t there?”
Next to her, the gentleman with the sketchbook chuckled.
She glanced at him, and found herself looking into a round, homely face with warm brown eyes alight with humour. His mouth stretched into a broad, slightly lop-sided smile, so infectious and endearing she couldn’t help smiling back.
“There’s also a Knight of the Swan,” he told her. “The Honourable Mr. Jerningham. He can fly.”

Thank you, Collette! It’s great to be able to post!
Thank you Collette. I’m a day late, but this way I get to read everyone else’s excerpts first! This is from my gothic novella, The Prisoners of Wyvern Castle.
The woman he had married—-Madeline—-had a gentle voice and soft hands. He could tell that much. And she was frightened of her brother, his hated sister’s hated lover. That was in her favour, though, of course, it did not mean she could be trusted. She might fear Graviton and still serve him and Lady Wyvern.
Well, it was done now. If she were a snake, he was taking her to his bosom. To his bed, anyway. Lady Wyvern had made it clear that his lady would be chopped into kindling if he didn’t attempt to get his new wife with child.
The Prisoners of Wyvern Castle is in my free e-book, Hand-Turned Tales (this novella and three short stories)http://judeknightauthor.com/books/hand-turned-tales/
