Deciding which book to post a snippet from this week was a challenge, because I have three releases this month.
So, I decided to post from the next release, which happens to be a boxed set, PASSIONATE PROMISES.
And instead of posting snippets, I’m posting a meme from my contribution, A Kiss for Miss Kingsley!
PRE-ORDER LINKS:
Last weeks tidbits were fabulous. Friday’s are always the busiest day on my blog with lots and lots of page views!
While she applied lipstick, she didn’t miss
Joe’s appraisal of her and the way his Adam’s apple bobbed
up and down as he swallowed. “You look stunning… ” He
stood to kiss her cheek. “Don’t want to smear your lipstick,”
he said with a grin.
From my short story, “A Latte Love” which released last week in an anthology.
Denise
Ha, my hubby does that all the time so he won’t smear mine! Thanks so much for sharing, Denise!
This is from my newest release, My Lady Valentine, Book 4 in the Rogues and Rakehells Mystery series. It is available for preorder and releases of Feb 14.
“Dearest husband, why on earth are you giving this boy such a hard time? You’ve known all along he would receive your permission, so just give it, and let him be on his way.” Matt heard the duchess declare.
Matt jumped to his feet, turned, and bowed deeply to the grand lady.
“Because I wished to see him squirm. After all, he’s about to depart on the most amazing adventure of his life, and I wanted to make sure he was ready,” the duke stated.

What a great title and perfect for a Valentine release. Loved the snippet too.
Thank you Collette!
This is from my newest release, Waltzing with the Earl, Book 6 in the In His Arms series.
Tristram stood outside Isabel’s residence, hoping to catch one last glimpse of her before he sequestered himself at Longstone, far away from anyone he might hurt. Less than ten minutes later, he was rewarded with the sight of her. Candlelight illuminated her sad features, pulling at his heartstrings. The ache inside grew to epic proportions, practically swallowing him whole. He said a silent farewell, mounted his horse, and left the only woman he had ever loved.

Okay, Alanna, that’s just heartbreaking.
Sweet! 🙂
I have a story in Passionate Promises, too. Here is a snippet — the opening lines.
“No improper use of magic,” said Polyanthus, “and no seduction.”
Rex, Lord Quickthorn, opened his mouth to retort, but his half-sister went on giving orders.
“Nor any combination of the two. Everyone knows what you’ve been doing in London for the last seventeen years.” The disapproving tone of voice didn’t suit her at all. She was a fairy through and through—lighthearted and mischievous like most of her kind—but today she wasn’t acting much like one.

Next I shook Ram’s hand, and hated that I could feel my pulse quicken and face turn red when our hands touched. He didn’t have the bad boy image like Cooper, yet he radiated the same confidence and control. He also looked as if he could cause some serious damage if need be.

YOU’LL BE THINKING OF ME by Densie Webb
My chance encounter was unfolding on the second floor of Zabar’s, a gourmet institution on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. My peripheral vision was trained on Mick Sullivan, while I did my best to concentrate on the espresso machine in front of me. An unrepentant coffee addict, I had beelined to the shelves stacked to the ceiling with coffee makers—a must-have addition to my wish list of kitchen equipment for when I could afford to move out of my parents’ house in New Jersey. After losing my job and my alleged boyfriend, Conrad, I had reluctantly moved back home in a last-ditch (and utterly demoralizing) money-saving maneuver.
Mick Sullivan glanced at me and I panicked.

Spirit Catcher: While there she meets an old Cherokee Indian, a dog that suddenly appears out of the dark woods, and a good-looking farmer-wannabe. And then, her dreams stop, but unexplainable visions draw her into the past through a circle of light.
Will the old Indian, living deep in the woods, help her understand her visions and the reason she suddenly finds herself living the life of a young Cherokee squaw? Is this another vision, or is it real?

Better than chocolate: Five Line Friday. Thanks, Collette!
Excerpt: The One (The Only One) #1
In her everyday life, Adelia had become a master of duplicity. To all appearances, she was a devoted, loving mother and wife, business entrepreneur, and partner and friend to her mercurial sister-in-law, while secretly she harbored a building apprehension that manifested itself in nightmares. Miles held her and rocked her back to sleep after these episodic encounters with her subconscious fears. And although the disturbances often ended in a deeply satisfying middle-of-the-night love tryst, he was troubled by their growing frequency. Finally, he insisted she see a therapist.

What great foreshadowing, Belle.
Love this!
Argh. I keep trying to reply to specific comments, and it puts my comments at the end so you can’t tell who I’m responding to. Something weird going on… oh, well.
“Sweet!” was for Denise, “Love this!” was for Lindsday, and now I’ll say, “Ooh, I love visions!” to Judy. And now I’ll go away and do grocery shopping!
It’s been doing that to me too, Barbara. I’ll ask my webmistress what’s up.
My second book to promote is my new release, ALMOST ORDINARY (The Song Wreckers, book 2).
When my alarm went off at three forty-five this morning, I was not happy. Especially since I knew I set it for quarter after four. Caleb, my husband, had reset my alarm so he could properly say goodbye. He was very easily forgiven as The Big-O energized me for a while, but that high had worn off and now I needed caffeine.

And I’d need caffeine at three forty-five too!
Ha! Pretty sure I meant Feb. instead of Beb! Grammarly, you failed me!
Lovely excerpts, everyone! Here’s mine, from LILIANA’S LETTER.
He spotted the woman he’d seen on the street, Miss Ashford. She was taller than he remembered, with her brown hair simply but elegantly styled. She was also more shapely than his first impression, the dark blue column of her dress framing lovely curves. His blood stirred. It had been an eternity since he’d felt any interest in a woman.
I’m giving away a copy of LILIANA’S LETTER during the Timeless Kisses Facebook event, https://www.facebook.com/events/155515428151689/179366539099911/
Happy Friday!
I’m editing my next release at the moment. Embracing Prudence is the love story of David, an enquiry agent (not, he will insist, a thief taker) and Prue, a woman with secrets.
Prue silenced his teasing with a kiss, which she intended as a quick brush of the lips, but which turned hard and demanding, and who made it so, who prompted the move to the study’s coach, who removed whose clothes and in what order, she could not have said. It was all one. They were one: one mind, one intention, one yearning body. But two hearts, her cautious side reminded her before she lost all ability to think under his tender onslaught. Two hearts, and David must never know that he owned hers.
Out in May, if I ever finish editing it. The blurb is here: http://judeknightauthor.com/books/
Wonderful excerpt, Alina!!
Jude, this is simply delightful.
From my upcoming release, Spring 2016, The Wicked North – Book I of the Civil War series yet to be named. 🙂 And Thank you Collette for letting me share this –
Emma Silvers was not afraid to shoot Yankees.
She leveled the .57 caliber Enfield rifle at the line of blue coats standing before her porch at Rose Hill that evening. She counted ten men, fully armed and wielding torches. They reeked of wet wool, sweat and gun powder–a noxious mixture combined with the scent of pink roses surrounding the house. Bile rose in her throat. She swallowed hard.

Excerpt:
Under the yellow porch light, he leaned down and brushed his lips over hers, a quick good night. But she tasted sweeter than he’d imagined, and one brief kiss wasn’t enough. What started out as a casual gesture quickly flared into something bigger and hotter.
She responded immediately, wrapping her arms around his neck and kissing him back. Forgetting their philosophies on life were as different as night and day, Rafe angled closer, coaxed her lips apart, and deepened the kiss. He couldn’t get enough. He even enjoyed the vague taste of pineapple.
In no time, he was ready to combust. He wanted to shed his clothes, strip hers away, and take her, right there against the siding.
The inferno raging through him brought him up short. This kind of thing didn’t happen to him, not after a couple of kisses.
