A Scottish Valentine Short Story sure to make you smile!
~~
“Ye ken what Scottish folklore says about finding a glove on the road on Valentine’s Day?”
Grinning, Giselle jumped and snatched it from his hand. “Non, but I’m sure you’re going to enlighten me.”
“Aye, lass. When ye find a glove on the road on Valentine’s Day, yer beloved will have the other.”
Her gorgeous eyes rounded for an instant before she chuckled, the sound unusually low and husky for a woman.
“You Scots have a tradition for everything, don’t you?” She slid her left hand into the glove’s protection. “Ah, much better. My fingers are near frozen.”
“I’d be happy to warm yer hands. . . .” Hugh winked and wagged his

Okay, your turn to dazzle our readers!
Collette, thank you for this chance to talk about my upcoming release, Glimpse Eternity, coming February 20th. It is a sweet contemporary novella.
Two arms caught her breaking her fall, cradling her gently. Breathless, she pried her eyes open and looked into those same fudgy eyes from last night, only closer. She was instantly reminded of brownies. She swallowed…

This is always so much fun, Collette. Especially so on a snowy day. Thank you!
From ‘Just Wait For Me’ (Highland Gardens, Book 3) tentatively scheduled for release in April.
A moment between Jillian and Stephen.
When the kiss ended they pressed their foreheads together and just breathed.
“Ach, lass, you make me want things I must not have.”
“What do you mean?” She leaned away. “I know we haven’t known each other long, but sometimes it only takes a moment to feel an undeniable attraction that might blossom into more. I feel that with you.”

Ah, I wish I had snow! Loved the snippet!
Thanks, Collette! Five lines from my debut novel, “You’ll Be Thinking of Me”:
“But the thing about fame,” he continued, looking uncharacteristically somber and resolute, “is that if you embrace it, you’re an egomaniacal prick. If you push it away, you’re an ungrateful bastard.” He stopped, shook his head, and gazed into his wineglass like he was reading tea leaves. “As long as I remember where I came from, I’ll be okay.”
Oh, I like it.
That one made me smile.
How about his one? From Dangerous Works http://www.amazon.com/Dangerous-Works-Caroline-Warfield-ebook/dp/B00N9KHDWQ/
“What? Why are you smiling so?”
“We. You said ‘we.’” Her generosity struck him like a cannon shot. Rush of desire at the sight of her radiant face would have buckled his knees had he been standing. He was grateful he wasn’t.
He reached up to draw her closer, unable to stop himself, and she bent her head to his hand. Lilac scent flooded over his defenses when she lowered her joyous face to his.
Just wonderful, Caroline.
Hi Collette! Thanks for the opportunity! Here’s a snippet from my WIP- A PLEDGE OF PASSION (PASSIONATE PROMISES anthology).
“I was one of the better batsmen,” he replied. “I frequently hit over the boundary.”
“Indeed?” Her eyes challenged as her gaze held his. “Then one wonders if you still possess talent with your bat or if it has diminished with disuse.”
Nick shifted in his seat. If this were any other woman of his acquaintance, he would have no doubt of the sexual innuendo, but he was as certain as he lived and breathed that the “bat” to which Lady Mariah referred was merely the club made of willow. “I don’t know. I haven’t held a cricket bat in over five years,” Nick said. As to the other, at the moment he was absolutely certain it had not suffered from prolonged disuse.

Okay, I’m grinning.
From “Black Bayou.” This one is not out yet. Probable release in February.
“Casually, he stepped inside and scanned the room, noting the disarray and damage. Lucy beheld a tall man, all in tight black clothing. His body was sinewy and lean with broad shoulders and long arms. When he flipped back his hood, Lucy saw the face of a man in his forties — dark short cropped hair, dark eyes that were large like a cat’s, and heavy eyebrows. A hawk-like nose and a prominent jaw line imparted an aristocratic look to a visage covered with the unshaven stubble of a dark beard beginning to form. He was the most devastatingly handsome man Lucy had ever seen.”
Now that’s too intriguing to not want more!
Soon to be released, Spring 2016. SAVING MAVERICK, Book One in the Bad Boys of Baseball series. http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/25709962-saving-maverick
“I see the wheels turning in your pretty little head Kelsey, but you have to promise me one thing?” Maverick asked.
“What’s that?”
“Stop trying to fix me.” He demanded.
“But that’s my job.”
“No, your job is to repair my damaged reputation in the eyes of the media crazed society and ensure the ticket buying public I’m not unstable because of a couple bad choices.” Maverick said.
Thank you, Collette!
It’s wonderful to have you here!
Thank you Collette! From my release scheduled for March 9th, One More Time is Not Enough
Before he heard her voice, the perfumed scent of her enveloped his senses. He turned, his breath stolen by the sight of her. The red cashmere Azzedine Alaia dress hugged her curves enhancing her attributes. Her only adornment was the diamond collar around her neck. Never had he seen her look more beautiful. That she had expended this much effort to please him, struck him like a bolt of lightning.
“Are you going to just stand there looking dumbfounded? Where’s the man who is never at a loss for words?”
In her eyes he saw a mischievous sparkle. “Sometimes you just take my breath away.”

I love that your setting is in Oregon!!
This one is actually very tame … for me…
Thanks Collette! This is from my upcoming February release, Book II of The Gladiators series – Love & Lies
Then he reached out to her, his fingers at her hair. His touch lit fires, even though his fingertips only glided over her strands. Her gasp made the guards pull their swords and move closer. Quickly he removed his hand, his fingers clasping a small gray feather. With a wary smile, he presented his catch.
“Apologies, domina. Simply freeing your beauty of any mars.”

Wonderful, Gina!
Thanks Collette, this is from STIRRING PASSIONS – PASSIONATE PROMISES ANTHOLOGY.
Arriving back at Grosvenor Square, Kate found Lady Firth waiting. “My dear girl, I’m so sorry I wasn’t here to greet you. A charity luncheon kept me far too long. I came home to find you’d gone out. Not on your own, I hope, Katherine.”
“I went to the library, Lady Firth.”
“That’s an admirable choice, my dear, but you can’t go about unaccompanied in London. Your reputation will certainly suffer and you might be accosted.”
Kate wondered which event would alarm Lady Firth more.
Ah, the restrictions of Society!
What fun to see these lines! I’m afraid mine is still in an early stage, the book isn’t titled yet. It’s Alyssa and Angus story. They were introduced in Seonaid ( amzn.to/1ZSCR3S ) . Obviously, they need to work through some differences.
This … this … carrying her over his shoulder, for the whole world to see, and laughing! She bucked, kicked, squirmed. He spanked her.
“I’m going to kill you!” she shouted and realized she had the means to do just that. His dagger hung at his side. She pulled it from its sheath, twisted, grabbed a fistful of his coarse hair, pulled his head back and put the knife to his throat.
She smelt the tang of his blood and eased the pressure of her threat.
“Ah, you want me to release you?” Upside down, his wary eyes belied the calm of his voice.
As always ~ thanks Collette for another great Friday adventure.
Oh, I loved this!!
Lots of ideas for a snowy weekend of reading. Thanks
This is from my Cape Cod paranormal romance The Widow’s Walk
“You can joke all you want, Mike, but this is serious. We can’t let anyone else in.”
“I won’t say a word about anything ghostly to anyone. As long as things stay under control.”
Liz studied him.
Mike squirmed. “I think I’m going to take a nap.” He settled back on the sofa.
She didn’t believe him. He didn’t trust her. This was never going to work.

Oh, you are one of the states getting slammed by snow, aren’t you?
Lovely as always, Belle.
Oh boy!
this is from my western romance, “love me again” on amazon.
He advances a full step towards me. I don’t back up, we’re too close and there’s no place to run. The spicy, earth rich scent of him plows into my senses. He stares down at me, his eyes burning coals, nostrils flaring, “What did you just call me?” he asks quietly.

I think she’s in trouble!
Mariana Gabrielle and I have been ambushed by a story.
A casual remark about how our respective reformed rakes might react if they caught the daughter of one with the son of the other has led to Never Kiss a Toad, a novella (or, potentially, a novel) about the romance of Sarah Grenford, daughter of my Marquis of Aldridge (now the Duke of Haverford), and David Northope, son of Mari’s Duke of Wellbridge (fondly known as Toad). We have been consumed, and have so far written about 25,000 words (of very rough draft) in less than a week.
This is by no means soon to be released, but we’ve been having so much fun I just had to share. Here are our two fathers, preparing to scold the boy who has been sent down from Cambridge, blissfully unaware of their children’s plans.
Nick held up a restraining hand. “Not a word. No cigars or drinks or slaps on the back for this. Not one. His mother has already started in on me, and if you make it worse, I promise you, I will send her after you next.”
The very slightest of grins was visible just at the corners of his mouth, “By god, the don’s desk. The fool.”
“I know.” Haverford grinned back. “But I’ll come the stern uncle, never you fear. My own duchess has given me my marching orders.” He lifted his glass in salute. “To our lovely wives, Nick.”
You too have been obsessed for sure. I can see why. What a lovely premise.
Carol, I hope you will love the scene where Haverford scolds his daughter. He feels no urge at all to pass her a cigar or slap her on the back!
